Documentary: Norman Finkelstein | American Radical | Supporting the Truth

Prof. Norman Finkelstein has always been a controversial figure. He is a son of Jewish Holocaust survivors. He has written extensively about the Israel-Palestine conflict, pointing out the fact that it is isreal that has displaced the Palestinians and is stealing their land and continuously torturing them. He is one of the rare voices of truth in the Jewish community

And more all the time. There is a lot of backlash in the American Jewish community with regards to the right’s dominance of the main lobbying organizations and their support of violence (versus Iraq, Iran, and the Palestinians) rather than constructive engagement.

Dr. Norman Finkelstein had to suffer a lot for his stance on his issue. He has been continuously accused of being a lunatic and a self-hating Jew. Any criticism of Israel is met with similar abuses and charges of anti-antisemitism. His tenure at DePaul University has also been canceled for supporting the truth. Truth is Bitter. I support Dr. Norman Finkelstein for siding with the truth in this age of falsehoods and treachery.

Jewish American historian Norman Finkelstein argues in his explosive new book, “The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering” that Holocaust remembrance has been exploited by the Jewish establishment.

In his book he contends that a greater threat to the memory of the Holocaust than Holocaust deniers is what he calls ‘The Holocaust Industry’.

He accuses those who exploit the Holocaust of telling lies and of naked greed. He argues that the ruthless industrialisation of the Holocaust has encouraged the rebirth of anti-semitism in Europe and the United States.

The son of survivors of the Warsaw ghetto and concentration camps, he says, “I do care about the memory of my family’s persecution. The current campaign of the Holocaust industry to extort money from Europe in the name of “needy Holocaust victims” has shrunk the moral stature of their martyrdom to that of a Monte Carlo casino.”

His students ran a solidarity campaign after he was forced to resign from his position. His students were outraged, but helpless in this regard.

He is a scholar with a national and international reputation, whose work has been published by some of the best presses in the world. His scholarship is honest, rigorous, and courageous, exactly what it should be for a first rate scholar and public intellectual. The Dershowitz’s of the world are merely petty ideological clerks, gatekeepers for the dangerous notion that the suppression of dissent and dialogue is necessary to promote an idea, policy, and world view. What is happening to Professor Finkelstein is not new and should be placed in the context of a shameful history of academic dishonesty and suppression that we have seen during the red scare, the McCarthy Period, and with the likes of COINTELPRO.

A son of holocaust survivors and ardent critic of Israel’s policies towards Palestinians, Finkelstein has been the center of many controversies up to very recently when he was denied tenure at Depaul University.The film interviews critics and supporters of Dr.Finkelstein.

Dershowitz with committing plagiarism in his recent bestselling book The Case for Israel — an accusation that has set off a furious back-and-forth about what does and does not constitute plagiarism.
